Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q: What services do you offer as a wedding officiant?
A: We provide wedding officiant services for elopements and signing-only ceremonies.

Q: Are you legally authorized to perform weddings in North Carolina?
A: Yes, we are locally ordained officiants and comply with all legal requirements to officiate weddings in North Carolina.

Q: What areas do you serve?
A: We primarily serve Granville and Durham Counties in North Carolina. For locations outside this area, please contact us to discuss availability and potential travel fees.

Ceremony Details

Q: Can we customize our ceremony?
A: Absolutely! I encourage short, heartfelt vows for elopements. The location of all elopements and signings is left up to you. However, we can offer location suggestions if you are looking for a specific setting, or we can simply come to your church, home, or even place of business! Please feel free to dress however you would like to. We perform signings and elopements for couples in traditional wedding attire, jeans and T-shirts, and everything in between! Please let us know in advance if you would like your officiant to wear a specific type or color of wardrobe. While we cannot guarantee their compliance, we assure you they will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your request.

Q: How long does the ceremony take?
A: A signing-only ceremony typically takes 5 minutes or less, while an elopement lasts 10–15 minutes. We provide a 5-10 minute buffer before and after the start time of each ceremony in case of delays or issues beyond our control.

Q: Can you provide witnesses if we don’t have any?
A: Yes, we can arrange for witnesses for an additional fee. Services conducted with our witnesses are outlined on our website.

Q: Do you travel to the ceremony location?
A: Yes, we travel to your preferred location. If it’s outside of Durham or Granville County, a small travel fee may apply. Contact us to discuss your options.

Other Questions

Q: Can you officiate same-sex weddings?
A: While we love all people, we do not officiate same-sex weddings due to ordination restrictions.

Q: Do you offer last-minute bookings?
A: If our schedule allows, we will accommodate last-minute bookings. Please contact us as soon as possible to check availability.

Q: Can you perform ceremonies in languages other than English?
A: Currently, we only have English-speaking officiants. However, we may be able to obtain a Spanish-speaking translator free of charge if your ceremony is booked at least one week in advance. Please contact us via email for more information and to book.

Q: Do you offer additional services like vow renewals?
A: Yes, we also officiate vow renewals, commitment ceremonies, and other special occasions under our elopement packages. Witnesses are not needed for these ceremonies, so you will be charged the basic elopement package price. Please contact us for more information.

Marriage License and Legalities

Q: Do we need a marriage license for the ceremony?
A: Yes, you must obtain a marriage license from a North Carolina Register of Deeds office before the ceremony. Without it, the marriage cannot be legally performed. You must also bring a Valid State-issued identification card.

Q: What happens to the marriage license after the ceremony?
A: After the ceremony, we can submit the signed marriage license to the Register of Deeds office on your behalf, or you can choose to return it yourself. The choice is up to you.

Q: How many witnesses do we need?
A: North Carolina law requires two witnesses with valid State-issued identification cards to be present at your ceremony and to sign the marriage license. We recommend you provide the witnesses, but we can provide them in conjunction with our services for the additional fees listed.

Q: Can you marry us if one or both of us has been married before?
A: Yes, as long as both parties are legally single and not currently married. If you’ve been divorced, ensure your divorce is final before applying for a marriage license.

Booking and Payment

Q: How do I book your services?
A: You can book our services online through our website or by contacting us via phone or email. A $10 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date and time.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: If you need to cancel, the $10 deposit is non-refundable. However, you may reschedule your ceremony at least 24 hours prior to the ceremony date/time, and the deposit will be applied to the new date.

Q: Do you require full payment before the ceremony?
A: Yes, full payment is due on the day of the ceremony prior to the ceremony being conducted.
